The latest contract (2025): was valued at 766 million UAE Dirhams, and its purpose is to provide spare parts, repair, and technical support for the "Leclerc" tanks to ensure their operational readiness, as part
of a program to modernize and extend the life of the current fleet. The original purchase deal: The UAE's deal to purchase "Leclerc" tanks dates back to 1993 with the French company GIAT Industries (which is now Nexter), and included the purchase of 436 combat vehicles (388 Main Battle Tanks).
The final batch of this large deal was delivered in 2008. In short: The recent deal (2025) is a technical support and modernization deal, not a purchase of new tank units.
